  • 50 g (⅓ cup) frozen peas

Instructions

  • Dice the hot dogs into rounds and finely dice the onion, garlic and carrot.
  • Heat the sesame oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the sliced hot dogs, onion, garlic, carrots and peas and cook for 5-7 minutes until softened.

Notes

*You can do this in a separate bowl if you prefer and then pour it into the pan when combined.
Tips & Tricks
      • ✔️Prep Ingredients Ahead of Time: Chop all your vegetables and hot dogs before you start cooking. This way everything is ready to go once you start cooking.
      • ✔️I have whisked the egg with a fork directly in the frying pan to keep this a one-pan meal, however, if you prefer, you can whisk the egg up in a separate bowl and pour it into the pan once combined.
      • ✔️Double-check the ingredients in the hot dogs if you are following a dairy-free diet, as a lot of them tend to contain milk. (The Dinos big dogs don't - but always double check packaging)
      • ✔️ Use Day-Old Rice: Day-old rice works best for fried rice as it has dried out slightly, preventing it from becoming too mushy when stir-fried. If using freshly cooked rice, spread it out on a baking tray and let it cool in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before using. You can also use microwave rice, which will give a similar effect.
      • Garnish: Garnish the fried rice with sliced green onions or coriander (cilantro) for a fresh and flavourful finish.
How Can I Make This Allergy Friendly?
    • Make It Egg-Free: - Either leave out the egg or another great option is to use silken tofu as I have in this fried rice recipe. It has a very similar texture to scrambled egg.
    • Make It Soy-Free: Use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce. The biona coconut aminos is both gluten and soya free.
    • Make It Gluten Free: Use tamari instead of soya sauce which has a very similar flavour. Check the ingredients in the hot dogs.
    • Make It Sesame Free: Use olive oil or vegetable oil instead.
    • Make This Recipe Vegan: Use vegan hot dog sausages and tofu instead of egg.
